The Livingston Parish School Board received the Budget and Goals Committee report Aug. 20, which included recommendations on flood insurance, a presentation of the 2025–26 operating budget and action on a state stipend allotment for employees.
Norris insurance consultant Carmel Burrow recommended renewal of existing flood insurance for the district and the addition of four new policies with 30-day waiting periods; the committee voted to accept the recommendation and forward it to the full board for approval. The total payment figure stated in the meeting transcript was unclear; committee materials are available for board review and the consultant can provide a clarified cost estimate on request.
Business manager Ashley Amy distributed and presented the proposed 2025–26 annual operating budget. Amy said the proposed budget will be available for public viewing on the district website and at the central office front desk through Thursday, Sept. 4; a public hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, followed by adoption of the 2026 budget by the full board.
The committee also considered a state allotment for certificated and support staff stipends. Amy told the committee the State of Louisiana allocated Livingston Parish Public Schools a stipend allotment for 2025–26 that the district plans to distribute as $2,000 for certified staff and $1,000 for support staff; the allotment was described as tentatively scheduled for release to the district in September 2025, with district distribution planned for Oct. 8, 2025. The committee voted to accept the stipend allotment recommendation and forward it to the full board for approval.
The committee reported no changes to the district salary schedule for 2025–26; a motion to approve the salary schedule was forwarded to the full board. The committee adjourned after approving the items listed in its report.
At the full meeting the board voted to accept the committee report without additional discussion.
