The Livingston Parish Public Schools budget committee approved the district’s acceptance and distribution plan for a state one‑time stipend for eligible certificated and support staff, with payments scheduled for Oct. 8.
A presenter identified as Mr. Purvis explained the stipends are state funds authorized during the legislative session and will be issued as a one‑time payment of $2,000 for certificated employees and $1,000 for support staff. He said employees must be full‑time active employees and must remain employed through Sept. 30, 2025, to receive the full stipend; employees on extended sick leave, sabbatical or leave without pay will receive a prorated amount. Excluded from eligibility are contract employees, substitutes, employees on workers’ compensation since July 1, 2025, and any employee who terminates before Sept. 30, 2025.
The presenter estimated the stipend program will cost approximately $7,100,000 and said payments are planned for Oct. 8, 2025. Committee discussion in the transcript clarified the stipend is a state allocation provided through the legislative session and that the district’s role is to disburse the funds consistent with the state rules. The committee approved the district plan; the motion was made by Mister Seals and recorded as carried (the transcript does not record individual roll-call votes).
