The Livingston Parish School Board on the consent agenda approved change order No. 3 for the Albany Elementary School cafeteria addition and renovation in the amount of $38,687.63 and subsequently voted to accept substantial completion for the project, with remaining punch-list items to be finished before final occupancy.
Chris Banks, the project director, recommended the change order citing several items added or adjusted in the scope: new stairs and ramps that had been pulled into the project, paving changes at the back of the cafeteria to address elevation and improve access for pallet jacks, a chain-link fence, and a credit of about $6,500 for switching painted frames to anodized frames. "Everything seems to be in order and we're recommending this change," Banks said.
Board member Jeff Purcell moved to approve change order No. 3; Cecil Harris seconded, and the board approved the motion by voice vote. Banks told the board the work tied to the change order would be finished soon and that most punch-list items were already complete.
On the related substantial-completion item, project staff said only handrails and some concrete remained before the final inspection and that the contractor expected to finish concrete work on a Saturday. Superintendent Joe Purvis praised the contractor, saying the firm had communicated well and was finishing ahead of schedule despite delays related to energy approvals.
A motion to accept substantial completion was made and seconded; the board approved the motion. The board record shows the district will complete move-in activities after the final inspection and completion of remaining items. The transcript does not specify additional cost allocation beyond the stated change-order amount or an exact occupancy date.
