Board authorizes bid advertisement for removal-sale of house on Holden District property

The board granted the superintendent authority to advertise for bids to sell and require removal of a house located on Holden District property (bid number 26-03); the buyer would be responsible for moving the structure off district land.
The Livingston Parish School Board on Aug. 20 authorized advertisement for bids for Bid No. 26-03: the sale of a house to be moved from district property in the Holden district.
Accountant Bridgette DeMonica explained the sale covers the structure only and that the purchaser will be responsible for moving the house off the property. "This home is located on property owned by the Holden District. We would be selling just the home. So whoever purchased it would be responsible for moving the home off the property," DeMonica said.
Board member Bob Seals made the motion to grant the superintendent authority to advertise for bids; the motion was seconded by Brad Harris and carried unanimously on a voice vote. The board did not discuss an asking price or a timetable for removal at the meeting.
The authorization allows staff to solicit offers; any sale contract will return to the board for approval per standard procurement and disposal procedures.
