The Lafayette Parish School Board held a public hearing June 12 on its proposed unified budget for fiscal year 2025-26 and scheduled formal adoption when the board reconvenes at 4:30 p.m.
The hearing, which officials said had been the subject of two prior meetings and posted notice in the Daily Advertiser, drew no public comment. "This is strictly a public hearing," said Mr. Dugay, a staff member, after outlining prior meetings and the posting of the budget materials.
Board presenters said the budget had been made available in paper at the board office and on the board website "as required by the law." The board read a resolution stating the Lafayette Parish School Board held special board meetings on April 10 and May 7 to receive and discuss information related to the proposed fiscal 2025-26 budgets; the resolution also said notice of a public hearing and special board meeting was published in the Daily Advertiser on May 22 and May 23, 2025.
Earlier in the hearing, a speaker said the board had held two meetings on the budget, "first held on April 10 and another held on May 15." The transcript includes both references; the board read the April 10 and May 7 dates aloud as part of the resolution.
With no members of the public offering comment when the presiding official asked, the board adjourned the hearing and confirmed it will reconvene at 4:30 p.m. to adopt the unified budget for fiscal year 2025-26.
Details on line-item amounts, revenue sources, or any proposed changes were not discussed in this hearing and were not specified in the record of this segment.
