Board member Miss Tharpe announced her resignation from the Caddo Parish School Board at the Aug. 19 meeting, saying she has moved out of her district into another district and therefore must resign.
“I want to announce tonight that my resignation from the board… I have recently moved out of my district into Barrie's District. So, I will have to resign,” Miss Tharpe said, and she thanked constituents in District 8 for twice electing her and for the opportunity to serve. She said she is grateful for relationships formed on the board and cited work on solutions for Arthur Circle and other district projects.
Board members responded with expressions of appreciation for her service. The board president said the body would likely vote in the near future to relinquish her seat and then return to the agenda to formalize the change. No formal resignation letter or effective resignation date was recorded in the portion of the public transcript provided.
Several board members spoke in tribute, and one noted the board will need to take a formal vote to accept the seat relinquishment at a future meeting. There was no recorded formal action accepting the resignation during the Aug. 19 session captured in the transcript excerpt.
