The Livingston Parish Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously Sept. 4 to approve a rezoning request for case 25‑38 at 9102 Dabney Drive, consolidating two parcels whose historic use had been commercial into the correct zoning classification.
Commissioners described the action as a cleanup to match long‑standing commercial activity in the area. One commissioner said the corridor had many properties historically used for business but later zoned residential and that the rezoning would correct that mismatch.
Planning staff noted the decision affects property owners’ ability to borrow for improvements if commercial use is not properly reflected in zoning and that the change would help owners obtain financing and bring properties into conformity with use and bank requirements. There were no public speakers to oppose the rezoning. The commission’s roll‑call vote recorded unanimous approval: Engler, Clemons, Erde, Guidry, Wax, Dana, Burns, Farris and Long all voted yes.
The rezoning was treated as an administrative cleanup consistent with adjacent decisions the commission has made to align zoning with historic use in the corridor. No additional conditions or waivers were attached to the approval, and staff will forward the recommendation to the council as required by parish procedure.
