The application is competitive and does not guarantee funding, Dugas said, and the council’s vote authorizes the parish president’s signature on the application only.
Council members asked clarifying questions about project limits and whether residents in the area would be connected if funding is secured. The council voted unanimously to approve the application authorization.
Why it matters: the lift station would allow sewer infrastructure to be extended into areas that currently lack centralized sewer service, which parish officials say could support economic growth and reduce reliance on individual septic systems for the affected neighborhood.
