Sam Houston High School baseball honored for 2025 LHSAA Division 1 non-select state title

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Ways and Means Committee presented a certificate Thursday, June 5, to Josh Youngblood, assistant coach for the Sam Houston High School baseball team, in recognition of the team’s 2025 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division 1 non-select state championship.
Juror Quinn praised the team’s season and noted the program’s culture off the field, saying the players meet weekly for Bible study and support one another. Quinn said the baseball title was the team’s second state championship and congratulated the seniors by name.
Quinn read the certificate into the record: "Presented to Josh Youngblood, assistant coach on behalf of Sam Houston High School baseball team for victorious season and winning the 20 25 Louisiana High School Athletic Association division 1 non select state baseball championship." He said representatives from multiple wards attended to honor the team.
Quinn also mentioned coach Javier was not present. The roster of seniors read during the presentation included Landon Gentry, Wyatt Harvey, Connor Walker, Maddox Ordway, Brady Foulkes, Cole Flanagan, Hayden Peschel and Ashley Boltron, among others. The presentation was ceremonial and did not involve any committee votes or policy decisions.
Jurors closed the recognition with congratulations and photos; no follow-up actions were assigned.
