Saint Louis Catholic wins LHSAA Division 2 boys golf state title; jurors present certificates

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Ways and Means Committee presented certificates Thursday, June 5, to the Saint Louis Catholic High School boys golf team after the team won the 2025 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division 2 state championship.
The recognition came during the committee’s meeting as jurors honored the squad’s on-course performance and invited the team to a national tournament. Coach Neck said the state tournament had been shortened from 36 holes to 27 because of weather, and the team prevailed despite the change.
Coach Neck, Saint Louis Catholic High School boys golf coach, said the team was missing one senior who was playing in the State Am in New Orleans and that the remaining players would return next season. "Kai Hanks here, is the, individual state champion," Kai Hanks, a team member and the individual state champion, said. "He's the second person in our school's history to win district regionals and state in the same season."
Coach Neck said the team played 10 tournaments in the spring, winning seven and finishing second in three. He also said the team had been invited to a national tournament at Pinehurst Resort in July in North Carolina.
The committee read certificates that acknowledged the coaches and athletes for their championship season. The presentation did not include any formal votes or policy actions; it was an awards recognition on the committee agenda.
The team’s state title is the second boys golf championship for Saint Louis Catholic in three years. The coach and players said they expect most team members to return next season to defend the title.
