PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — The Pueblo West Metropolitan District board voted Aug. 25 to approve a contract modification with HBNA for additional Fire Station 1 design work totaling $72,250.
Fire Chief Bridal Caserta presented the item, saying the request followed board direction at a July 14 work session to review options 2 and 3 for renovating Fire Station 1. “Based upon our discussion back on 07/14/2025 where, we were directed to go ahead and review and revisit, the fire station 1 renovation options... tonight before you have a resolution approving, those fee impacts, with a total amount of $72,250 that breaks down to $67,300 due currently on the work that had been done up to July 14 until we put a stop work order on the project and then at the board's direction, HBNA provided the cost total of $4,950 to complete plans, for option 3,” he said.
The modification covers $67,300 outstanding from work performed through July 14 plus $4,950 to complete the detached-option set of plans for option 3. After public presentation, a motion to approve the modification was made and seconded; the board voted in favor with voice vote. The chair called the result “Motion carries.”
Why it matters: the vote authorizes payment to the district’s design consultant so that staff can proceed with the design work the board requested; approving the modification re-starts work the board previously paused and funds completion of the new detached-option plans.
Discussion: board members confirmed the resolution reflects guidance provided in the work session and asked staff to ensure the resolution language matched the updated fee amounts. Staff said they had updated the resolution to reflect the board’s direction.
