North Littleton Promise tells council $48,000 grant served 53 students in five-week summer programs

North Littleton Promise presented its summer program results to the Littleton City Council Sept. 2, reporting it used $48,000 from stadium sale grant funds to support youth programming at the East Community Center.

Executive Director Maureen Shannon said the group served 40 elementary students in a five-week program and 13 middle school students in a five-week, four‑days‑per‑week program; middle-schoolers attended six-hour days. The program hired two NLP high school staff to assist the elementary groups and provided two field trips per week for both groups, including visits to museums, nature centers, Town Hall Arts and regional attractions.

Shannon described program priorities as "faith, education, and leadership" and cited leadership projects in which elementary students tended a garden whose produce was donated to St. Andrew’s food market and middle-schoolers raised funds for a local nonprofit. She said the program also built intergenerational connections through partnerships with Parkinson’s Point clients at the East Community Center.

Council members thanked North Littleton Promise for creating safe summer options for working families and encouraged attendance at the group’s upcoming Fiesta fundraiser. Council member Zink highlighted the program’s role in connecting immigrant families and noted the East Community Center as a gathering place.

No formal city action was required. Shannon invited council and the public to the Fiesta and said more information is available from North Littleton Promise.
