Washington, Missouri ' Members of the Washington Area Highway Transportation Committee said the Oldenburg entrance improvements are largely complete but guardrails remain to be installed, and that the city has submitted a 50/50 application for Surface Transportation Program (STP) funds for the Highway 47 corridor.
Why it matters: Committee members said the application could provide matching funds for local reconstruction projects; the committee also noted a recent $100,000 award to the city intended for High Street reconstruction.
Committee member Darren reported that Oldenburg entrance work is visible on site and that only guardrails remain to be installed: "The only thing they've got to put in some guardrails, I think they're still waiting for that to be put in." He also said the 50/50 application for Highway 47 has been submitted; "we did receive that in the last month... the application for the 5050 on Highway 47, that's that has been submitted. So, we wait. Early September, we'll hear," Darren said.
Members discussed coordination with neighboring communities on a potential STP loan project for 2026 and said they will continue conversations to finalize applications and project leadership. The committee also noted recent positive press about the Oldenburg Industrial Park.
The committee reported that the city received $100,000 intended for High Street reconstruction; a committee member said that funding will help when that project comes up in a couple of years. No formal vote or ordinance related to these items was recorded in the meeting.
Next steps: committee members expect STP program results in early September and plan to continue interjurisdictional coordination for the Highway 47 corridor application.
