Commission staff reminded members that the annual Certified Local Government (CLG) report must be submitted to council in November and that staff needs the commission’s input in October to meet that timeline. Members volunteered to review the prior submission and to provide updated resumes or one‑page bios for the CLG packet.
Several members discussed required training options that count toward CLG or commission training requirements. Staff noted Main Street 101 (self‑paced online) and Missouri Main Street or preservation conferences as acceptable options. Members said they would complete Main Street 101 or other webinars and reported prior attendance at Missouri Main Street or related programs; one member volunteered to resend the training link and another said they would complete the training “after volleyball.”
On records and file sharing, the commission agreed to move from paper binders to a shared Microsoft Teams site (or other cloud storage) to make agendas, applications and photos accessible to all members. Staff offered to build the Teams workspace, provide a shared file structure and continue to print materials for those who prefer binders. Members said they are comfortable using Teams and that the platform’s chat and file features would streamline document access.
Why it matters: CLG status and training maintain the commission’s accreditation and eligibility for certain grants and technical assistance; a shared document platform should reduce administrative friction and improve timely submission of materials to council.
Follow‑up: staff will prepare the CLG one‑pager, collect updated resumes, resend training links, and create a Teams workspace for the commission.
