Nixa council authorizes bids and RFQ for sidewalk, building remodel and parking maintenance projects

The Nixa City Council on Aug. 26 approved three separate resolutions authorizing staff to begin solicitations for construction bids and design services for city projects, staff said.
Council members adopted Resolution No. 2025-40 to solicit bids for the Old Wilderness sidewalk improvement project. Street Superintendent Jeff Purcell said design and right‑of‑way work began in 2021, was paused, and resumed in 2024; staff reported they had acquired easements and finalized plans and recommended soliciting bids to move into construction.
The council also approved a request for qualifications (Resolution No. 2025-41) to solicit design services to remodel the utility‑billing building across the street from City Hall so planning and development staff can occupy that space after the utility‑billing function moves into City Hall. Project facilitator Justin Orr said earlier funding was approved and the RFQ is intended to identify an architect or engineer to prepare design plans.
Finally, the council approved Resolution No. 2025-42 to solicit bids for seal coating and striping the municipal parking lot at 1111 West Catherine. Street staff reported the lot was repaved in 2020 and is due for scheduled seal coating; the work is budgeted in the electric and street department budgets.
All three resolutions were approved by voice/roll call in the meeting; staff said project timelines and further details will follow in later procurement documents.
