McFarland council approves new animal control/code-enforcement position

The McFarland City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution No. 2025-122 to add one animal control code enforcement officer to the city’s staffing structure. The role’s estimated annual cost is $57,732 to $73,878, and staff said the position would be funded from the city’s general fund. Serena McKeown, the staff presenter, told the council the hire would “improve service delivery, ensure timely responses, and enhance community safety through proactive, a more proactive enforcement.” Councilman Perez moved to approve the resolution; Councilman Gutierrez seconded. A roll-call vote recorded all members voting aye and the motion passed. The council directed staff to proceed with recruitment and implement the position as budgeted; no amendments to the resolution were made at the meeting.
