Fire station construction ahead of schedule; block laying and concrete pours underway

City council workshop — A public-works update on June 2 said construction of the new fire station is progressing and is currently on schedule despite earlier weather delays.
A project representative said the eastern portion of the building (the administration side) has its floor prepared to be poured and that the shop and storm-shelter areas had concrete scheduled to be poured the next day. "The floor is prepared to be poured on the eastern portion, which is the admin side, and then the far west side, which is the, shop and storm shelter to the south, that's being poured, tomorrow," the representative said. The contractor Heitman had mobilized ahead of schedule and begun laying block on the rear wall, the speaker said.
Staff reported that garage-door openings were beginning to take shape and that the project was not off schedule. Rain in April had caused some early setbacks, but crews were making up time and the representative said, "As of right now, nothing is off schedule. So we're looking to be on schedule." No changes to project scope, contractor names beyond Heitman, or contract amounts were recorded in the workshop update.
No formal action was required; the item was an informational update to the council.
