Cascade Timber donates $66,200 to Sankey Park Phase 3 in memory of longtime employee

Milton Moran Jr., manager of Cascade Timber Consulting, presented a $66,200 check to the City of Sweet Home for Phase 3 of Sankey Park on behalf of Hill Timber limited partnership. Moran said the donation is made in memory of Bill Marshall, a 42-year Cascade Timber employee who was involved with Tree City USA and Sankey Park. "We're not for sale," Moran told the council as he described the company's ongoing presence and development near town and then presented the check. The donation came after family members asked that gifts be made to Sankey Park in lieu of flowers, Moran said. Mary (city staff member) accepted the check on behalf of the city and council members took a photograph for the record. The presentation included a request from Moran that the city work with him on a plaque to acknowledge the gift as Phase 3 proceeds. There was no formal motion recorded in the meeting minutes to accept the donation; the check was handed to city staff during the recognition portion of the meeting. The council acknowledged the gift on the record and Mayor Coleman thanked Moran and the Hill family for the contribution.
