Administration selects two marijuana retail locations; stores must complete OLCC approvals before opening

City administration told the council that, following a multi-step review, two applicants were selected to meet the standards for recreational marijuana retail in Redmond: one site on the south side and one on the north side of the city.
Mayor Fitch said the administration completed a “fairly rigorous review,” selected two operators and expects they will need several months to complete OLCC permitting and interior remodels. "They still have to go through a process with OLCC and remodel their, interiors. We anticipate that's gonna take a few months, so sometime by December, we should see those shops in place," the mayor said.
Council did not vote on the selections at this meeting. Staff described the steps remaining — state licensing through the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission and landlord/tenant remodel work — and did not present fiscal projections or permit details.
Councilors and staff noted the selection only reflects completion of the city's local review and the stores cannot open until state approvals and required remodels are finished.
