The Redmond City Council approved updates to the employment contract for City Manager Keith Bukowski, including a revised monthly pay rate of $18,199.71 and a deferred compensation amount of $2,583.33 effective July 1, 2025.
Jason Bavuso, the city's human resources director, said the renewal follows a council executive-session motion and reflects market adjustments intended to keep the manager’s compensation competitive. "The motion includes recommended updates to the city manager compensation package to remain competitive," Bavuso said, summarizing the item for council.
Councilors publicly expressed support for Bukowski’s leadership. One councilor said, "you absolutely have my full faith and confidence" and multiple councilors thanked the manager for his hours and availability during incidents such as the Flat Fire. A motion to approve the contract changes was moved and seconded; the council approved the motion by voice vote.
Councilors also used the discussion to thank city staff and first responders for their work responding to recent regional fires; the city manager and city staff were noted as participating in briefings and coordination with county partners.
The approved adjustment was described by a councilor as roughly consistent with a 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment. Council did not discuss additional terms in public session beyond the compensation figures presented. The motion reflected the executive-session recommendation and authorized the contract change effective July 1, 2025.
