Aldermen appoint members to two Community Improvement District boards, call for better meeting notices

The Board of Aldermen approved appointment slates to two Community Improvement District (CID) boards at the June 14 meeting.
For the Branson Commerce Park Community Improvement District the mayor nominated Butch Lomax, Joseph Boyd, Bob Hules and Emma Baird; the board approved the slate. The mayor also nominated Barry Swartz, Andrew Ruppit, Lawrence Callahan, Russell Shenowick and Philip McGregor for the Branson Hills Infrastructure & Facilities CID; that slate was also approved.
Alderman Lucas and another alderman said they had met several candidates and raised questions about Sunshine Law compliance and public posting of CID meetings. Glenn and Lucas urged the new CID boards to improve meeting notification and suggested the city clerk could assist with broader public posting. Staff said applications will be reopened to fill one remaining vacancy on the Commerce Park CID and that additional appointments will be made after applications are received.
Both slates passed on voice votes with unanimous support. The board emphasized the expectation that the CID boards adhere to public‑meeting posting rules and keep the community informed of their meetings.
