Missouri DOT stabilization funds: $6.2 million approved for West 76 segments; Branson authorized to sign agreement

The Branson Board of Aldermen authorized the mayor to execute a budget stabilization funds allocation agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for $6.2 million to support Segments 1 and 2 of the West 76 Country Boulevard project from State Highway 376 to Harvey Lane.

Michael, city staff overseeing the project, described the 16‑page agreement as “wet ink” and said the funds add to the city’s existing project budget. “We’re excited that the finalized Missouri Highways Department of Transportation Commission, stabilization funds is in hand,” he said.

City staff said the funding is another piece of the project’s financing puzzle and that executing the agreement will allow the city to move forward with design and near‑term work on Segments 1 and 2. The board approved a motion to read the ordinance for a final vote the same night because staff said signature and appropriation timing required prompt action.

The board approved the final reading by roll call vote, 5–0. Staff said the agreement is intended to be combined with other local and state funding already secured for the corridor work and that the city will proceed with contract and construction phases per the project schedule.

The mayor publicly thanked State Representative Brian Seitz for advocacy on the project in Jefferson City. City staff indicated steps for implementation will include finalizing the contract signature, confirming appropriation year treatment with MoDOT, and coordinating procurement and construction milestones.

The measure passed on final reading 5–0; specific contract dates and project milestones will be scheduled in follow‑on staff reports to the board.
