Barbara Davis (comment submitted online and read aloud) asked the board to engage in mediation rather than “mudslinging and name-calling,” requested mediation be public where allowable, and asked the board to enforce rules about false or malicious statements about county employees. Catherine Roller and another in-person speaker (Debbie Cozard Deuce) likewise urged reconciliation and mediation, said the recall effort was causing community division, and asked commissioners to dedicate time to resolve internal disputes.
One commenter, Cynthia George, reported a personal experience alleging mistreatment during a mental-health crisis and urged the county to improve crisis care. Another in-person commenter, David Elton (partial name provided as “Mister Alton/Alton” in the transcript), raised complaints about social-media moderation and an ethics complaint; the board chair reminded speakers to address remarks to the chair and avoid personal attacks.
No formal board action was taken in response to public comment during the meeting. Commissioners acknowledged the comments and announced upcoming meetings; members did not vote or direct staff to launch mediation during the session.
