Council continues Belknap Road vacation hearing to Oct. 1

The Medford City Council on Aug. 20 approved a motion to continue the public hearing and consideration of an ordinance to vacate two unimproved 50-foot segments of Belknap Road to Oct. 1, 2025. City Attorney staff read the ordinance title describing vacation of the unimproved right-of-way of two 50-foot-wide segments of Belknap Road: one between Garfield Street and Center Drive, and another east of Center Drive to the terminus of the right-of-way. The matter was not heard to completion on Aug. 20; staff noted a requested continuance to Oct. 1. Councilor Kevin Stein moved to continue the item; Councilor Kevin Keating seconded. Roll call recorded eight yes votes and the motion carried. The August 20 action postponed formal discussion and any decision on the street vacation to the Oct. 1 date. Staff said the continuance would allow interested parties time to attend or to submit testimony if they wished to comment on the proposed vacation.
