KBOR staff presented the system’s program‑accreditation inventory for 2024, showing dozens of discipline‑based accreditations across the state universities and noting that the data are now maintained in the system program inventory.
Sam (Samantha) explained that the report covers both institutional and program accreditation and that the bulk of accreditations are program‑level, handled by organizations recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or by state regulatory agencies. “This report covers accreditation status as of last year, so 2024,” Sam said.
Staff highlighted totals reported by institution: Emporia State reported 38 accredited programs (many in Applied Health Sciences and Teachers College), Fort Hays State reported 20 accredited programs, Kansas State reported 58 accredited programs (including ABET‑accredited engineering and technology programs), Pittsburg State reported 38 accredited programs, KU reported 64 accredited programs (with multiple ABET programs), KU Medical Center reported 23 accredited programs plus a supplemental list of accredited residency and fellowship programs, and Wichita State reported 61 accredited programs.
Sam credited the system’s data team for adding accreditation data elements to KBOR’s program inventory, which made compiling the report easier and kept information maintained by each institution.
BASC members thanked staff and praised institutions for the heavy lift involved in program accreditations. The committee voted to accept the report.
