The Town of Woodstock Board of Selectmen announced that Woodstock Fire Chief John McKay submitted a written resignation effective last Friday at 12:00 p.m., and that the board met in nonpublic session to accept his resignation and discuss transition steps.
At the meeting a selectman read a statement saying Chief John McKay handed in his written resignation on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 7, effective that past Friday at 12 p.m. The board said it met in nonpublic session at 3 p.m. on Friday to accept the resignation, notify the department’s deputy chiefs and to discuss transitional steps. "We truly thank Chief McKay for his 40 of service to the town of Woodstock and our residents," the selectman said.
No candidate or timeline for naming an interim or permanent replacement was announced in the public meeting. The board said it will work with the department's leadership in coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition. The acceptance of the resignation and the transition discussion occurred in nonpublic session under RSA 91-A:3 (numerals referenced in the meeting record).
