County approves sign plan for cannabis retail; applicant withdraws requested waiver for chaser lights

Applicant representative Bob Groenauer explained the proposal includes wall signage and a double-sided pylon sign on Warm Springs Road. He said the applicant previously reduced the pylon height from an initially proposed 35 feet to 25 feet at the town board and proposed additional landscaping to block illumination toward the closest residential property roughly 232 feet to the south.
Groenauer also said the applicant would withdraw a waiver for chaser lights that had sought to avoid turning off that illumination between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. "We would withdraw that because we would be able then to just follow code," he said. County planning staff told the commission the landscaping buffer and the withdrawal of waiver 2B would be conditions of approval. The applicant agreed.
Outcome: the commission approved item 38 with the withdrawal of waiver 2B and standard design-review conditions. No members of the public spoke on the item.
Next steps: applicant to submit final sign plans reflecting the lowered pylon height, landscaping buffer and the illumination limits for staff sign-off and permitting.
