Road agent reports culvert work and rec department installs Gaga ball pit; Selectmen discuss salvaging old municipal truck

Road Agent Russ Pearl briefed the Selectmen on maintenance and recreation improvements and discussed an old municipal truck that may be salvaged. Pearl said the roadside mowing, culvert replacement work and winter sand screening are progressing and that crew efforts included lighting and maintenance at the recreation field. He described a recently installed Gaga ball pit at the rec field, paid for and installed largely by the Recreation Department and town crews; board members asked about cost and funding and were told the lumber and hardware cost about $800 in materials and the Recreation Department provided the labor. Pearl also noted an old municipal diesel truck with a damaged engine remains at the transfer station; he has tried to find a buyer but none have taken it and the truck may go to salvage. Board members discussed options including local sale or sending it for scrap and the need to remove fluids and salvage valuable parts before disposal. No formal votes were taken; the Selectmen asked staff to explore options and to coordinate transport or disposal when practicable.
