Clark County commissioners approved an interlocal lease Aug. 5 that will allow University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) to operate a crisis stabilization behavioral‑health facility on county‑owned land at 5409 East Lake Mead Boulevard.
Under the lease approved by the board, UMC will take 17,182 square feet of medical office/behavioral health space on approximately 1.49 acres (assessor parcel 140‑21‑303‑004) for a crisis stabilization center, county staff said. The county’s resolution authorizes the director of Real Property Management, or a designee, to sign the interlocal lease agreement substantially as to form and any documents needed to manage the lease.
During public comment, neighborhood resident and community volunteer Al Rojas expressed support for the project, saying the facility is needed in the area to assist people experiencing homelessness and mental‑health challenges and that the center’s 24‑hour operations could help local outreach efforts.
The board voted to approve the interlocal lease and staff authorization; county staff noted the item authorizes the lease to UMC and directs Real Property Management to finalize documents consistent with the approved form.
