MERRIMACK, N.H. — The Town Council voted 6-0 to accept a $1,220 donation from the Barrick Christiansen Trust to the Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Welfare Department, to support scholarship assistance.
Town staff presented the donation and said the funds will be used for scholarships: a portion toward the Parks and Recreation camp scholarship fund and a portion toward the after‑school program scholarship fund. The meeting included some verbal confusion while the presenter read the allocation; the motion before the council referenced a $1,220 total to be distributed to the two scholarship funds.
Motion and vote: Councilor Mackenzie moved to accept and expend the donation of $1,220 from the Barrick Christiansen Trust pursuant to RSA 31:95‑b and Charter Article 8, Section 15 and to allow the town manager to sign related documentation; the motion was seconded and passed 6-0.
Town staff said the welfare department will work with Parks & Rec to distribute scholarships following established procedures for needy families. The council thanked the donor for the contribution.
