The Town Council voted unanimously May 22 to approve Eagle Scout Tucker Landry’s proposal to install three benches on the Horse Hill Nature Preserve trails. Landry described plans to place one bench by the Watanick Bowman parking area near a stream, a second at the "Osprey Lookout" overlooking Long Pond, and a third across the pond. He said each bench will follow the preserve’s existing design, be anchored with concrete and cable locks, and cost about $230 per bench in materials. "It'll take about $230 for 1 bench," Landry said. Landry told the council he had already presented the plan to the Conservation Commission, which supported the project with one stipulation: none of the benches should lie under utility power‑line easements. Conservation staff and DPW will verify easement locations before installation; DPW staff advised a typical power‑line easement extends roughly 75 feet from centerline. Councilor Mackenzie moved to approve the Eagle Scout proposal and authorize the town manager to sign related documents; the motion passed 6–0. Landry said he plans fundraising through summer and aims for construction in late summer or early fall when ground conditions are favorable.
