Council refers Manor‑area safety request to Traffic Operations committee with expanded study area

The Concord City Council on Sept. 8 referred a communication from area residents requesting safety improvements in the Manor neighborhood to the Traffic Operations committee and agreed to expand the study to include Lower Manor Road, Sewell Falls Road and Abbott Street.
Councilor Kredovich moved the referral with the expanded geographic scope; Councilor Todd spoke in support and thanked residents for organizing and pursuing enforcement and engineering options. The council previously arranged enforcement activity that residents said achieved positive results; the Traffic Operations committee will now evaluate engineering and longer-term measures.
Councilors said the referral is a next step after enforcement activity and will look at road‑engineering alternatives in concert with police and public‑works staff. The motion to refer and to suspend rules to take the item from suspense passed by the required two‑thirds vote and the referral was adopted by voice vote.
Traffic Operations committee members and staff will study the expanded area, evaluate engineering countermeasures, and return recommendations to the council for consideration.
