Council approves consent agenda, appoints Dwayne Schoff to CVB advisory board; planning commission backs front-yard fence exception

During the council meeting, Planning & Zoning Commission member Blake reported that the commission met July 9 on an application for 4045 Connor Drive and voted "8 in favor, 0 in opposition" to allow a four-foot-tall ornamental aluminum fence in the front yard. "We voted 8 in favor of 0 in opposition," Blake said.
On the consent agenda the council approved multiple ordinances and resolutions (bills in the 2,500 range were read into the record) authorizing, among other items, agreements to place certain improvements in public rights-of-way, acceptance of improvements to a downtown plaza, and an agreement with Southeast Missouri regional economic development, Inc. The council also read bills relating to real property sales and the issuance of special tax bills.
Council members moved and seconded the agenda and the consent items and the motions carried with an "aye" vote; none of the items were pulled for separate discussion. The council then considered an appointment to the CVB advisory board and approved the nomination of Dwayne Schoff after a motion and second were recorded. "Congratulations to you, Dwayne," the mayor said after the vote.
