Council approves first reading to accept permanent easements for Dalhousie lift station access road

The Cape Girardeau City Council on May 19 approved the first reading of an ordinance to accept permanent access easements from neighboring property owners to create an access road to wastewater lift station No. 4 behind properties on Dalhousie Drive.
City staff member Mr. Pope told the council the wastewater department needs the access road to maintain the lift station located behind 5900 and 5918 Dalhousie Drive and that the easements would allow the city to access the site for maintenance. According to the presentation, the property owners donated the easements to the city.
A council member moved and seconded the ordinance; the council voted in favor and the motion carried. No members of the public spoke on the item during the meeting.
The ordinance was taken on first reading. The measure will return for the council’s second reading and final adoption following required notices and any statutory waiting periods.
