City Council staff said the second reading of agenda item 13A will be postponed to the council meeting on Sept. 23 at the request of a local school district. The postponement was described as a staff request to allow the district and other school districts time to review and propose changes to materials presented to the council.
At the meeting, a staff member said the district submitted the request late in the afternoon and asked the council to delay so the district could "have some more conversation" and allow staff and districts to return with "alternatives or additional recommendations." The council chair then proposed approving the agenda as amended to reflect the postponement.
The request was presented as an administrative schedule change; no ordinance text, financial impacts or substantive amendments to the item were discussed at the meeting. Council members did not take a formal vote on the content of item 13A at the hearing; the only action recorded was the staff request to move the second reading to the Sept. 23 meeting.
Staff said they would reach out to the other affected school districts to coordinate and present any revised materials at the rescheduled meeting. The meeting packet and any subsequent staff reports will determine whether the council receives new substantive proposals before the second reading.
