Denver City Council adopted a resolution approving a proposed professional design services contract with HDR Engineering Inc. for the South Platte River Trail Mississippi to Dartmouth project, a segment that extends roughly from 500 feet north of Mississippi Avenue to 200 feet north of Dartmouth at Denver’s border with Inglewood in Council Districts 2 and 7.
Councilmember Michael Watson put council resolution 11‑28 on the floor for adoption; the resolution authorizes HDR to provide professional design services for the trail segment. Council President Pro Tem Romero Campbell announced an abstention because a family member works for HDR Inc. "I will need to abstain on this one. I have a family member that works for HDR Inc.," Romero Campbell said.
The roll call recorded 11 ayes and the resolution was adopted. Councilmembers who voted aye included Sawyer, Alvidrez, Flynn, Gilmore, Hines, Cashman, Lewis, Parody, Torres, Watson and President Sandoval; Romero Campbell recorded an abstention. The resolution advances the design phase for the South Platte River Trail segment and directs staff to implement the contract consistent with city procurement rules.
