The La Paz County Board of Supervisors adopted Proclamation No. 2025‑17 declaring September 2025 as Hunger Action Month in La Paz County and recognized local food‑bank partners and a recently formed La Paz County Food Bank Coalition.
The proclamation cites statewide and regional statistics included in the document: 1,067,120 people facing hunger in Arizona; an assertion that one in four children do not know where their next meal will come from; and that food banks in La Paz and Yuma Counties distributed more than 6,000,000 meals to 363,977 people in 2025 through pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other community organizations. The board encouraged volunteerism, donations and public awareness during the month.
Board members recognized several local representatives on the record, including Mary McLendon of the Yuma Food Bank; representatives from Friends of the Courtsite Food Bank; Randy and Steve McDowell of Nikki’s Nook/Bauhaus Food Bank; and community health staff Carmen Gonzales and Lori Bachman. The proclamation was adopted by voice vote.
