KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. — Kittitas County public works staff told commissioners on Tuesday they recommend awarding a federally funded safety‑improvement contract for Huntsinger Road after receiving five qualified bids.
Josh Fredrickson, Kittitas County Public Works, said bids for the Huntsinger Road Safety Improvement Phase 1 were opened Aug. 7 and “Lowest bid for this project, being from Peterson Brothers Incorporated in the amount of $1,382,410.93.” He told the board the project is funded through the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program and is “100% funded.”
Fredrickson said design work began in 2023 and that construction is anticipated to begin in October. The staff request to commissioners was to approve a resolution authorizing a contract and to empower the public works director to execute the agreement.
The presentation indicated the county expects to pay contractor invoices and receive federal reimbursement for the full cost. No formal vote or recorded outcome on the contract award appears in the meeting transcript.
