Lake County planning staff reminded the Planning, Building, Zoning and Environment Committee on Sept. 3 about an upcoming Lake County Housing Coalition workshop on Sept. 10 that will focus on housing production data and small-group policy discussions.
Eric Wagner, planning staff, said the Sept. 10 session at the Barn at Timberpoint in Mundelein is the first technical workshop following a June kickoff meeting. Wagner said staff plan to review the county’s housing production shortfalls, discuss trends and have small-group conversations on goals and strategies. He said the series of workshops will continue over the next four months and culminate in a wrap-up summit in February 2026.
Wagner asked committee members to RSVP and to help the department recruit municipal representatives who had not yet confirmed. He said staff recorded over 100 participants at the June kickoff and that the department will send reminders and request a head count.
Member Wasick asked whether advocacy for enhanced state tax credits for attainable housing would be discussed at the Sept. 10 workshop; Wagner said that topic would be saved for a later workshop that addresses incentives beyond local measures. The committee’s members expressed support for the coalition effort and attendance at the workshop.
Staff asked board members to RSVP promptly to aid planning and to help engage municipal counterparts for the subsequent technical sessions.
