Council opens sealed bids for new cabin chassis and refers bids to public services director

Trenton — At its Sept. 2 meeting the City Council authorized the deputy clerk to open two sealed bids for one new cabin chassis with a 10–12 cubic yard dump body, underbody scraper and tailgate spreader and referred the bids to the Department of Public Service director for review. The clerk read two bids aloud: Interstate Truck Source Inc. submitted $317,476.10 and Wolverine Freightliner Eastside submitted $268,494. The clerk noted the absence of a bid bond on the first submission and staff said they would confirm bond documentation as part of the review. Council moved and supported the referral to the Department of Public Service director for evaluation and recommendation; the motion passed unanimously. Staff will return with a recommendation to council after reviewing responsiveness, bid bonds and references.
