Council approves multiple fall special events and road closures downtown

Trenton City Council on Aug. 18 unanimously approved a series of special-event applications and related road closures for fall 2025. The council approved a road closure of Belmont Street between Winthrop and Vernon on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., under the direction of the city police and public services departments. The council also approved Trenton Public Schools’ request for a homecoming parade closure on Friday, Oct. 10, under police direction. The downtown Trenton Art Festival — scheduled for Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20 — will require a closure of West Road from West Jefferson to Riverside for the festival and a lobster buffet tent; the closure was described as starting at 9 a.m. on Sept. 19 and ending at 8 a.m. on Sept. 21. A late communication from the Vintage Market seeking approval for a “Witches Night Out” on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 9 p.m. was also approved; the requested closure was Saint Joseph on both sides of West Jefferson ending at the alley. All event approvals were moved, supported and approved by unanimous voice vote. Council and staff noted police and public services will coordinate traffic and safety details for each event.
