The Trenton City Council approved two wastewater treatment plant capital purchases on June 2: replacement windows and an entry door for the solids‑handling building, and three new thickening sludge pumps that feed the plant’s filter presses.
Wastewater Superintendent (Julie) Wilson asked the council to authorize purchase of seven large windows and a front entry door from Lee’s Glass for $20,100. Wilson said the door is a custom item with long lead time and that this work is budgeted in the FY2025–26 capital plan.
She also requested approval to buy three thickening sludge pumps from Hamlet Environmental for $72,204. Wilson said the pumps — about 24 years old — have been rebuilt multiple times and are nearing end of life; parts are increasingly difficult to source. She noted the pumps are rotated in service so all three share wear and that engineering drawings remain to be finalized before fabrication, contributing to lead time.
Both purchases were moved, seconded and approved unanimously. Wilson said procurement timing accounts for lead times and that both items are included in the next fiscal year’s capital budget.
