The Trenton City Council on June 2 approved revised budget and tax resolutions after a recent bond sale required a small increase to the bond millage rate.
City Controller Jill Cooper told the council the city completed a bond sale of about $43.5 million for municipal building improvements and related projects. The interest rate on that sale was higher than anticipated, which required revising the millage for the bond to 27.5899 mills — an increase of 0.0193 mills from the rate the council set on April 21, 2025. The adjustment covers the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2025, and ends June 30, 2026.
Cooper presented the change as a routine corrective step after the sale. A council member moved to approve the revised budget and tax resolutions; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
The council did not discuss additional changes to other millage rates at the meeting. The controller framed this as a targeted revision limited to the bond millage tied to the recent sale.
