During the consent portion of the Aug. 25 meeting the Bedford School Board approved a revised manifest (two spelling errors were corrected), two staff nominations and reviewed updated student handbooks.

Board members voted to accept the republished manifest with revisions. The staff-nomination discussion clarified a listing that showed an $85,000 annual salary beside a 0.2 FTE position; administration explained the $85,000 is the annual full-time salary and the 0.2 indicates a one-day-a-week (20 percent) assignment, not that the person will be paid the full amount. Administration committed to revising minutes and materials language so the FTE and prorated pay are clearer in future documents.

On handbooks, administrators confirmed the parental bill of rights and the cell-phone policy were updated across student handbooks; one school refined language about phone confiscation consequences in its handbook. Board members said principals will continue to encourage phones off in class as a practice at the building level.

The board approved the staff nominations and accepted the consent agenda motion by roll call of 'aye' votes.
