University City council votes to terminate Commission for Access and Local Orientation Programming

The University City City Council voted unanimously June 9 to approve Bill 95‑71, an ordinance repealing multiple sections of the University City Municipal Code and formally terminating the Commission for Access and Local Orientation Programming (CALUP).
The vote came on the bill’s third reading. Council member Teeman made the motion to approve and Council member Smotherson seconded; roll call votes were recorded as ayes from Council members Teeman, Brenner, Fuller, Smotherson, Clay and Mayor Crowe.
Council member Clay asked the City Manager whether there had been additional discussion about how any remaining funds in the CALUP account would be handled. The City Manager said, “During the study session on CALAB, it was a direction to put together a process for that disposition, that would give the public an opportunity to provide input into that. My intention is to, move forward with a process after the budget process has been concluded.”
The ordinance text read into the record lists the specific code sections to be repealed: sections 120.14012, 120.75012, 120.76012, 120.77012, 120.78012, 120.79012, 120.80012, 120.81012 and 120.82012 of the University City Municipal Code, as recited at the meeting.
There was no additional debate recorded during the meeting. The City Manager indicated the city will develop a public disposition process for any remaining funds and that the process would follow conclusion of the budget process.
