Stacy Landwehr, president of the volunteer nonprofit Historic City of Jefferson, told council the group received city assistance to prepare a grant and obtain funding to produce a four-volume vignette series documenting the first 200 years of Jefferson City history. The first volume, Starting from Scratch (1825–1850), is available now; the second, Finding Its Way (1850–1875), is expected at year-end, followed by volumes covering 1875–1925 and 1925–1950.
Landwehr said the books collect 12 authors’ articles previously published in local outlets and include city-provided editorial and printing support. The books are priced at $20 and available for pick-up at the Historic City of Jefferson building at 601 East High Street; staff said online ordering will be added later. Landwehr also thanked city staff Jenny Smith, Steve Biley and Tammy Beshin for editing support and noted a short contribution from Mayor Fitzwater appears in the volume.
The presentation was informational; council did not take action or appropriate funds during the meeting beyond the assistance Landwehr acknowledged.
