Councilmember Pryor said there was interest among residents in revisiting the chicken ordinance and possibly adding a duck ordinance. The prior presentation reviewed by the Community Development Committee had included a proposal to increase the allowable number of chickens from six to nine; Pryor said committee members had not felt comfortable making a recommendation without more accurate information. "The presentation we got was a little dicey, maybe a little bit of misinformation," Pryor said, and councilmembers agreed a fuller presentation was necessary.
Council members and staff discussed process: because the item had already been to CDC, Pryor and others requested it be placed on a full council agenda for discussion. Staff said animal-control personnel would prepare the presentation, and the council asked that the discussion incorporate ducks and be scheduled so that staff with subject-matter knowledge would present.
No ordinance change was adopted at the meeting; council direction was to coordinate scheduling and to bring a more detailed presentation back for council consideration.
