At the Aug. 18, 2025 meeting, Meredith Crandall, planning staff, told the Design Review Committee that the Montpelier Planning Commission will undertake a section-by-section review of the city’s zoning regulations and expects to reach the design-review regulations in September or October.
Crandall said the commission seeks input from the Design Review Committee to provide historical context and specific, section-level comments: “they would love to have members of the design review committee come to their meeting or meetings when they're discussing that section to get some input on why the regulations are important,” she said.
Staff said many planning commissioners were not part of the original 2018 rewrite and that bringing committee members into the discussion will help the commission understand the practical effects and potential areas for change. Crandall said she will email committee members meeting dates and will attend planning commission sessions over the next year to provide background and gather feedback.
