Hutchinson Fire Department recognizes 10 personnel who completed advanced EMT training

At the start of the Aug. 19 meeting, Hutchinson Fire Department leaders updated the council that 10 department personnel have completed advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT) coursework and licensure under Kansas rules.
The department chief (unnamed) said the program began as a pilot about 18 months earlier and that the recent class brings the total number of AEMTs on the department to 10. “The ultimate goal is to have one on every engine company and truck company in the city,” the chief said, adding that personnel completed the schooling on their own time and that the advanced skills and drug capabilities are “a great asset to us.” The chief recognized Engineer Richardson, Engineer Gehring and Captain Raya as personnel who completed the program.
