Councilmembers propose public open house for new city fleet building

Several councilmembers on Aug. 19 urged staff to schedule a public open house or ribbon-cutting for the new City of Topeka Fleet building after final furniture and finishes are installed.
Councilwoman Ortiz told the committee, "I would just like to see we staff has moved. We put a lot of time and talent in that. And when we get ready, I I would hope that we could do maybe a open house or a ribbon cutting or something." Assistant staff responded that the city is awaiting final furniture and plans to hold an event for the governing body when the facility is fully ready. Council members also suggested opening the event to the public so residents can see how capital dollars were spent.
No formal action was required; staff will schedule the event after final move-in is complete.
